People thrive when they move…

…and facilities really do matter!

We are transforming a muddy bog into a beautiful, accessible, multi-use community field for lifetimes of well-being.

Our Vision

The objective of the Mar Vista Field Project (MVFP) is to execute the improvement renovation project of the athletic field at Mar Vista Elementary School in Aptos, California, through community promotion, fund raising, and management. We are guided by the desire to improve community health, particularly mental health and functionality of all citizens through the knowledge that physical exercise is foundational for children’s cognitive, emotional development. We see children maturing into highly-functioning adults who are contributing members of a pro-social community when they get their needs met, exercise being one foundational need. A well-designed, accessible and usable facility is required for this goal.

“It really has to do with what we know about how the brain works and how we can rejuvenate brain activity - particularly focus, attention and mood...when they(we) run around, their(our) brains are getting a bubble bath of good neurochemicals, neurotransmitters and endorphins. These help memory and mood..”

-Wendy Suzuki, Neuroscientist and NYU Professor
